I'm Rowen, a cut flower farmer + florist, currently based in Asheville, North Carolina. I’m quietly working toward a naturalist certification while running my flower truck and growing a regenerative flower farm.

Tiny Meadow

Gardening found me at a time when I was feeling overwhelmed by the constant news cycle. It allowed me to slow down and move with the seasons' rhythms. It taught me to pay attention.

Field Notes is a place to explore those rhythms—the intersection of gardening, ecology, and time. It’s where I share reflections, seasonal insights, and the hands-on work of growing flowers. Whether you’re tending a farm, a backyard bed, or just craving a deeper connection to the natural world, I hope you’ll find something here that feels like home.

Each month, I send out:

  • A free newsletter at the start of the month, open to all, with seasonal notes and personal reflections.

  • A Gardening Year, a mid-month paid newsletter with hands-on gardening content—seed-starting guides, seasonal tasks, and practical tips.

  • Occasional third newsletters that remain open to exploration—wherever they meander, they are always rooted in the natural world.

At its heart, Field Notes is about remembering that, like the gardens we tend—whether on a balcony, in a backyard, urban or rural—we are all connected in ways we might not always see.

Field Notes is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
